Sign up for a time slot
2. Prepare a verse and a chorus of a song of your choice (performed with no backing track)
4. If you're auditioning for Vocal Percussion (beatboxing), prepare a 30-second to 1-minute freestyle that highlights your versatility and tempo
3. Come to your audition early and make sure you know your schedule for the semester
FAQ
Q: What genre can I audition with?
A: You can audition with any genre that showcases your vocal ability, but please avoid musical theater songs. Since we don’t usually sing that genre, it’s harder for us to determine if your voice will fit well in our group.
Q: Can I audition virtually rather than in-person?
A: Yes, see virtual audition information here
Q: Do I have to go to school at GMU to audition?
A: No, however, you must be able to regularly make rehearsals at the GMU Fairfax campus.
Q: Are there additional audition steps after we hear back?
A: Yes, we will be having callbacks shortly after the audition period ends.
Q: Can I audition with a friend or group of people?
A: Yes but you must all audition separately (we want to hear only your voice).
Q: Can I play a starting note for my audition song?
A: Yes, this will not penalize you in any way.
Q: What style of music does MSN sing?
A: We sing mostly contemporary pop and R&B, but ultimately we perform whatever our members are excited about!
